As we leave behind what will hopefully have been the most challenging time during this pandemic, all of us in the medical community understand that we will not likely return to the way we used to live until we have a vaccine.

 

Understanding that a vaccine may be as far as a year away, we need to be able to move forward in the safest way possible.

Our offices are following the recommended guidance from professional organizations, public health authorities; including best practices for hygiene, infection control and medical professional team health.

The COVID-19 ONPAUSE has been reduced for essential services downstate and our practice re-opened on May 18th.  

 

We have put in place a complete set of measures to ensure the health and safety of our patients and our staff.

We have implemented the following change for in-person appointments: 

To save time and improve social distancing, please request an appointment by filling in this FORM  within 24 hours of your appointment. ​

 

The following changes have been made in our office: 

• Plexiglass barriers have been erected between the staff and patients at check in and check out to ensure the safety of the premises. 

• Every exam room will be completely disinfected (including equipment/machines, chair, etc.) before and after every patient.

• HEPA filters will be actively running in every room and common area. Likely, a circulating sterilizing ionized peroxide circulation as used to disinfect masks will be continuously and harmlessly circulating to capture and neutralize all airborne particles. 

• Every doctor and staff member will have their temperature and oxygen saturation checked upon arrival using an infrared, non-contact thermometer (directed at their forehead). 

• Proper staff hand washing will take place before and after every patient and staff members will be wearing gloves. 

• Staff members will be wearing masks (covering their nose and mouth), complete face shields, and hair covering (if desired). 

• Patients will be scheduled accordingly as to dramatically limit the number of people in our office at any given time. 

• Ample space will be provided in our waiting room for proper social distancing. 

• Hand sanitizer will be available all over the office.

Upon arriving in our office: 

• You should arrive with a mask. 

• Your temperature will be taken using an infrared, non-contact thermometer (directed at your forehead).

• Your oxygen level will likely be tested. 

• You will then proceed directly to the bathroom and wash your hands properly.

• The bathroom provides wipes, Lysol for surfaces and the toilet bowl.  Social distancing will take place in the waiting room; assigned seating may be implemented to ensure that patients are seated a minimum of six feet apart.

 

 

 

FAQ

Are you still offering virtual visits?

Yes, KLINE DERMATOLOGY will still be offering virtual visits for those patients who do not feel comfortable in the clinical setting. Our doctors and providers will be able to discuss your symptoms and determine the most appropriate treatment plan, including recommending an in-office visit when necessary. But in our specialty, the quality of the medicine is distinctly superior when a patient is seen in the office.

How are you ensuring the safety of your more vulnerable patients?

We are taking every precaution to particularly ensure the safety of our more vulnerable patients. For those patients who are age 65 or over, it is encouraged that you schedule your appointment between 8:00am – 9:00am. Patients age 65 and older must give special consideration as to whether their problem warrants leaving their homes at this time to come to the office. They must weigh the degree to which they need to be seen with the increasing risk of serious consequences in contracting COVID-19. This risk increases with increasing age so that someone 90 years old carries a greater risk than someone 65 years old and this must be taken into consideration in the decision making. If this time does not meet your needs, upon arrival to your scheduled appointment, we will do our best to escort you to a private exam room or waiting area. The safety of our patients and communities we serve is our number one priority. Patients will be properly assessed for COVID-19 risks (via phone or in person) prior to being allowed into any clinical areas.Patients will have their temperatures measured and will be required to answer additional Covid-19 specific questions.

It will be reinforced numerous times that our offices are not the venue for patients with symptoms consistent with a significant risk of ongoing COVID infection. Referral to local colleagues with access to testing will be made or offered for those deemed at risk of prior to invasive procedures.

What are the guidelines for office visits?

To help you prepare for your appointment, please keep the following in mind:

• Patients should arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment time to answer pre-screening questions.

• Only the patient is allowed in the office. For children and adult patients who require a caretaker, one adult may accompany the patient.

Where can I get COVID-19 testing?

A clinical site at 1285 2nd Avenue (East 67th Street) ground level has a clinical staff set up to do swabs for COVID-19 viral PCR as well as venipuncture for antibody testing. The schedule is every 15 minutes to minimize patient contact.
